 The Peter Grant Unfinished Mansion

Canada

THE PETER GRANT MANSION CANADA 030.PNG

The Peter Grant Unfinished Mansion

North of North Bay Canada

This mega mansion, built by Peter Grant starting in 2005 in Northern Ontario, was supposed to be an office and home for Mr. Grant and his Canadian forest company.

The 65,000 square foot mega-mansion sits on the shores of a popular lake but, Mr. Grant had to stop construction when there was a downturn in the global economy in 2007.

The massive mansion had plans for a small golf course, an art gallery, office area, swimming pool with a waterfall,
squash court, two elevators, a giant hot tub, a small gym, a boathouse etc, all on 43 acres of land.

Even though this property is not as old as most of the buildings that we've targeted, The History Fund believes that this property could add a lot of value to our network of global properties if it could be purchased at the right price and finished.

 Butron Castle

Spain

Butron Castle

Gatika Spain

This fairy-tale looking castle in Gatika, in the province of Biscay in northern Spain, is inspired by Bavarian castle models. It dates back to the Middle Ages and it was rebuilt by Francisco de Cubas in 1878.

The building is surrounded by a park which includes palms and exotic plants

The building will need some restoration and remodeling because it wasn't built correctly to handle the wet Basque weather and it wasn't designed to be of practical use. That being said, The History Fund would love to undertake the project and bring this fairy-tale castle back to life for everyone to enjoy!

This beautiful castle sits high on a hillside in the Portuguese countryside and is in need of some TLC.  It's located in the municipality of Torres Novas, Santarem district and it has a long history of passing through the hands of many owners who have implemented many transformations.

Unfortunately, the previous owner auctioned off all the furnishings and since then, the castle has sat empty and deteriorating.

The building is flooded with light by the huge windows that overlook the grounds and it's also full of luxury finishing touches that could be restored back to their previous glory.

 Lennox Castle

Scotland

Lennox Castle

Glasgow Scotland

This Norman style structure was built in 1812 for John Lennox Kincaid.

In the early 20th century, the building was converted into a hospital. The hospital was vacated by the 1980s and it was officially closed in 2002.

This beautiful building has been derelict ever since and due to a damaged roof, water poured into the masonry, especially on the upper floor, and ceilings have already been propped up to secure them. Overall, however, the building fabric was rated as good.

Glengarriff Castle

Cork Ireland

Dating back to the 1790s and sheltered in the stunning Bantry Bay, Glengarriff Castle is a most magical place.

On approximately 87 acres of land and located on the coast in the beautiful West Cork, this castle ruins has some promising potential. This castle in it's previous life had 20 bedrooms, its own harbor, a ballroom, and much more.

Over the years Glengarriff Castle has played host to the nobility and royalty, as well as famous writers and artists. Visitors included John Millington Synge and William Butler Yeats. Playwright George Bernard Shaw is said to have written his play, St Joan, here.

Even though the estate will take some major renovations to bring the property back to life, The History Fund believes it would be worth the time, effort and investment.
