About Us
What is The History Fund?
The History Fund is a "vehicle", a.k.a. a business model, whereby citizens globally can donate and work together to help save our historical buildings and estates that are deteriorating quickly and need saving!
Citizens can make one-time donations and/or become members that donate automatically every month.
Everyone who makes donations and/or becomes a sponsor, will have access to a global network of palaces, castles, chateaus, mansions, villas, manors, unique homes, churches, cathedrals, hotels, theaters, schools and other unique sites that will be available once we purchase, rehab and restore them.
For a monthly donation, the members of The History Fund are invited to visit and stay overnight (where available) at hundreds of interesting and unique locations globally, and experience history in a one-of-a-kind way. The History Fund's vision is to not only save our cultural heritage globally but, to provide meaningful experiences for lovers of history and architecture alike.
If I help the The History Fund to restore historical properties, how do I benefit?
That is the most exciting part because going on this journey by ourselves would be very meaningless! Once we raise funds to purchase, rehab and restore a project, those who helped us are invited to visit and enjoy it! Think of how pleasing it would be to visit a historic building that you helped save! And we want you to be able to do much more than visit. We want everyone who helped to visit for events, concerts, charity fundraisers, holidays, dining etc. That way everyone wins! For more information on what we offer donors, members and sponsors, please go to our "Join &/or Donate" page. If you have lots of questions, please go to "FAQs" or "How It Works" or "Projects."
Who is behind The History Fund?
My name is Brad Schwartz Bowen and I’m a Veteran, real estate designer/developer, businessman and technology entrepreneur, and my wife, Laurie Mullaney McNellen, is a award-winning saleswoman, retail expert and an aspiring interior designer. We are architecture and history connoisseurs located in San Diego California and we love animals.
Our mission with The History Fund is simple but powerful: we feel that saving our past via restoring historic buildings provides a sense of deep satisfaction, which most people seek and not enough people have an opportunity to do.... until now! We know for a fact that a lot of citizens globally are deeply upset about the buildings crumbling around us and we believe that we can help give a lot of people a sense of accomplishment if we can give them opportunities to help save our cultural heritage.
After reviewing hundreds of properties being abandoned and vandalized globally, our biggest complaint was the lack of any creativity in helping to solve this global dilemma. That's when we decided to start "The History Fund" and invite everyone internationally to participate. If we can just purchase, rehab and restore a few buildings and stop them from "disappearing" into history, we'll have accomplished something very special in our lives and we look forward to meeting and connecting with our generous and wonderful donors, sponsors and members!
Hope to see you at one or more of our restored projects globally,
Sincerely,
Brad Schwartz Bowen and Laurie Mullaney McNellen
